Bay Cycling Tour
This week-long tour is based for three days in Newport, Rhode Island., then for two nights in Narragansett.

Sunday Day 1: Arrival at Newport. Inns include the Comfort Inn, at the western end of Memorial Blvd in Newport, the Sea Breeze Inn, Quality Inn & Suites, Atlantic Beach Hotel and more. Monday Day 2: Scenic Newport Morning Ride: 25 mile scenic ride with 15 mile option. View the Newport Bike Map. Have lunch in Newport and then the option for an afternoon ride as described below: |

Monday Day 2: Afternoon Ride:
Drive 14 miles north of Newport to Bristol
and ride on the
East Bay Bike Path
to East Providence, 15 miles out, 15 miles
back..

Tuesday Day 3:
Tiverton - Little Compton loop.
In the morning drive north to Portsmouth
and cross the bridge to Tiverton. This gorgeous
ride takes you through Little Compton, the
quaintest town in Rhode Island. Ride past
salt ponds and Sakonnet Vineyards, with
a detour out to Sakonnet Point for great
water views. 40 miles with 30 mile option.
Spend a third night in Newport. |

Day 3 Tiverton - Little Compton - Horseneck Beach 50 mile option. "A favorite Narragansett Bay Wheelmen ride past salt ponds and Sakonnet Vineyards (for great water view, do the optional loop to Sakonnet Point). Little Compton is a traditional New England village, with its white church. Ride continues to Westport for a spin along Horseneck Beach. |

Wednesday, Day 4:Narragansett. Check out in the morning and drive to Narragansett. On the way stop in Jamestown. Check in to the Anchor Motel on Scarborough Beach in Narragansett or the Scarborough Beach Motel. After arriving at the motel take a ride to downtown Wakefield on the South County Bike Path and continue around the Great Swamp Wildlife Reservation and Worden Pond, a total of 36 miles, with a 20 mile option to Wakefield and back. Thursday, Day 5: Bike to Ferry,
Tour Block Island.
Ride from Narragansett to Port Judith,
3 miles . Ferry from Port Judith to Block
Island departs at 9:00 am.
18 mile ride from New Shoreham at Block
Island ferry terminal takes you to the Block
Island National Wildlife Refuge and around
the perimeter of the island. At the south
end of the island stop to visit
Mohegan Bluffs and view the
Southeast Lighthouse. Take the ferry
back from Rhode Island at 5 pm Thursday,
in which case the total ride for the day
round trip is 24 miles plus two one-hour
ferry rides. View the

Friday Day 6: Spend some time on Scarborough Beach or enjoy a ride north along coastal Rt. 1A to Wickford and back, up to 30 miles. |
Other activities: You may rent kayaks and tour Newport Harbor with Adventure Watersports or at Wickford's Kayak Centre of Rhode Island. Enjoy a historic Newport Walking Tour.
