The Tour de Slate “ride to end addiction” will be held at Middletown Springs, VT, August 2, 2025 – The Tour de Slate supports the addiction-ending efforts of Adult & Teen Challenge, Vermont. Six different routes (including road, gravel, and rails-to-trails) are designed to provide an enjoyable ride no matter what your level of experience. All rides start and finish in Middletown Springs, VT. This is a fund-raising event, and all net proceeds benefit Adult and Teen Challenge VT, serving Vermont and bordering NY state, New England, and beyond.

Why are we holding this event?

Vermont and rural upper New York State have among the highest illicit drug usage rates in the nation. Almost everyone knows of someone, a neighbor, a co-worker, a friend, whose family has been impacted by this epidemic. According to some surveys, Adult and Teen Challenge is the most successful drug and alcohol abuse recovery program in the nation. It is totally funded by private donations and other fundraising events. No one is turned away due to a lack of funds. Teen Challenge VT has a dynamic approach to ending addiction. This includes a men’s residential campus in Johnson, VT, a women’s home in Hardwick, VT, and a men’s transition house in Rutland.

This year, there are 6 routes:

  • A metric century – for avid road cyclists\
  • A 40-mile “groad” ride (partial gravel, partially paved)
  • A 20-mile (appx) “groad” route
  • A 36-mile road ride
  • A 25-mile road ride
  • A rail/trail ride (family-friendly)
