    The ALS Association’s Ride to Defeat ALS is a community fundraising event that creates the hope and action needed to create a world without this devastating disease. Each ride brings together a diverse group of individuals and teams dedicated to taking the challenge for those who bravely fight ALS and creates hope for a future without it.

    Riders enjoy supported routes with rest stops, support vehicles ready to provide a lift, course marshals along the course, and a finish line celebration with entertainment and refreshments.   2. JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes:

    JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes is a charitable bike ride that to date has raised over $60 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The Ride gives cyclists of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to support breakthroughs that transform the lives of people with T1D, until there are cures.

    JDRF Ride isn’t just a bike ride: it’s an experience where thousands of riders come together from all over the world to make new friendships and enjoy the unparalleled camaraderie of the Ride community with a shared mission to raise money to help end T1D.

    Join us as the JDRF Ride returns to Burlington, VT where we will ride through the most scenic roads in the Champlain Valley. This route features backcountry roads with sweeping views of historic farms and villages, Lake Champlain and the Green and Adirondack mountains.

    As you pass through Ferrisburgh, Vergennes and Middlebury, you’ll be greeted by JDRF staff and volunteers cheering you on every mile of the way! This moderately challenging course features rolling hills and several mileage options from 20 to 100 miles, accommodating everyone from a beginner cyclist to a seasoned veteran.

  3. Event: Ride For Our Vets

    Date: Saturday, June 15th, 2024

    Location: Ride starts/ends at Vets park in Norwalk, CT

    On June 15th, we will be holding our annual bike-riding event, The Ride For Our Vets, which supports the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center’s mission of removing legal barriers for veterans in our community. 

    In past years, we have raised as much as $200,000 annually for this cause, and we are excited for this year’s event.  The Ride will kick-off from Norwalk, Connecticut, and feature 3 routes (10-, 25-, and 62.50- miles) along the Connecticut shoreline and through the interior of Fairfield and Litchfield counties. We will also be having a Post-Ride Celebration with music, food, beer, and family fun activities!

    The $85 registration fee (only $75 for early registration fee by March 31st) covers registration and also earns each rider a 2024 Ride Jersey and a food and drink wristband for the Post-Ride Celebration.

  4. Join us for the 2024 Tour des Trees as this year’s route takes us through southern New England, promoting and teaching people about proper tree care and the importance of tree research.

    The Tour des Trees is a multiday, supported bike tour from September 22 to 28. The 2024 route takes us from Stamford, CT, around Martha’s Vineyard, and finishes in Providence, RI, engaging with communities and raising funds for TREE Fund.

    One, two, three, four, or five -day ride options are available and riders will raise funds for each day they ride. The total mileage over the five days totals over 425 miles! TREE Fund organizes all the hotel, meal, and transportation details for the week, so all you need to do is ride, fundraise, and have some fun.

    In addition to riding bikes and having fun, riders will also be ambassadors for TREE Fund and for tree science; stopping at various spots along the way and spreading the word about the importance of trees and tree care.

  7. SAVE THE DATE – Folks on Spokes & Step Forward Ride + Walk Raises Fund for Local Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services!

    When: Planned for Sunday, September 29th, 2024

    Where: Fowler Field in Milford, CT.

    As one of the longest running cycling events in CT, hundreds of participants will ride or walk in this event to raise funds and awareness for local mental health and addiction recovery services.Participants can ride any combination of the event’s 5, 10, 20, or 40 mile routes or walk the 5K while enjoying the scenic CT coastline. The event’s agenda includes a Remembrance Ceremony where participants can honor the lives of loved ones lost to addiction, suicide or other mental health related issues.

    Proceeds from the event support Bridges’ local mental health and addiction recovery support programs including children’s outpatient and school-based therapy as well as adult group and outpatient therapy for mental health and addiction recovery issues.

    “I ride in Folks on Spokes to help sustain the lifesaving work that Bridges offers to our communities,” says cyclist Glenn Laudenslager. “The team at Bridges is present in our communities and meets people where they are to take care of them, whether someone needs mental health treatment, care for physical health issues, or support for their recovery journey. This ride is our chance as citizens and neighbors to do our part. I know the funds we raise are put to good use taking care of people who need it the most.”

    According to event walker and Milford resident Jamie Rude, “I walk in the Folks on Spokes and Step Forward event in loving memory of my nephew David who was lost far too young to opioids. As a person in recovery, I also walk because I’m grateful to Bridges Healthcare for their addiction recovery work and the lives they save.”

    Participants can ride or walk individually or join as a team. More than 300 riders, walkers, and volunteers are expected to attend to support Bridges’ community mental health programs and services.

    The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an annual event to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling, mountain biking, paddling, and hiking, all while raising funds for the state’s largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities.

    Multiple road bike ride routes loop through the towns of Killington, Pittsfield, Bethel, Barnard, Woodstock, Ludlow, Bridgewater, and Plymouth, Vermont. Or you can choose to mountain bike, hike, paddle, or do a gravel ride. The monies raised from this event support the adaptive programs and athletes of Vermont Adaptive year-round. It is also used toward scholarships – Vermont Adaptive never turns anyone away based on their ability to pay. We hope you can join us for a fantastic day of friendship in support of adaptive sports!

  11. Phinney’s (aka Phinney’s Friends, Inc.), a nonprofit that helps low-income people in Massachusetts keep their pets, is gearing up for its 8th annual Phinney’s Ride–a biennial fundraiser to help those living with HIV and AIDS care for their pets.

    The registration fee for Phinney’s Ride is $20 with a pledge to raise $200 or more. Individuals can also form teams with family, friends, and coworkers. And, everyone who registers will get a personalized web page with photos and their bio, which they can direct their ride sponsors to.

    This year also marks the introduction of the Phinney’s Ride “Couch Potato Hero Certificate,” which gives those who don’t want to ride the option of showing their support with a donation of $100 or more.

    Phinney’s Ride began as a biennial 150-mile ride that Dr. Peduzzi organized from Stow Mass. to Fitzwilliam N.H. over two days, based on a riding plan they followed from their previous charitable challenges with other nonprofit. This year, Dr. Peduzzi’s team will ride 80 miles on September 11-12, traveling from Bristol to Little Compton in Rhode Island, stopping to rest and re-energize along the way.

    This 13-mile route is a fun recreational ride on a mix of dirt and paved roads. You’ll ride along beautiful country roads, passing lakes, ponds, fields and historic homes before heading into the Great Mountain Forest.   14. Save One Life is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those with bleeding disorders in developing countries. The organization is holding their annual Wheels for the World ride virtually in honor of Barry Haarde, a long time supporter of Save One Life who passed away in 2018. Barry completed six cross-country rides in support of Save One Life, riding 20,395 miles and raising over $253,000.

    We will offer a 25 mile route and a metric century (62 miles) route for those riding locally, but appreciate any distance people want to ride in support of Save One Life.

    All funds raised from the ride support the mission of Save One Life. Save One Life is proud to partner with Beverly Bikes, True North Ale Company, and the New England Hemophilia Association to host this special annual event.
