Starting from the Reformed Church parking lot in downtown Woodstock, NY, (map) this scenic ride circles the Ashoken Reservoir on good roads with a modest shoulder, with 1800 ft of combined climb over the distance of 34 miles. Some of the roads immediately on the reservoir were closed after the events of 9/11/2001 but have since opened to cyclists, creating a wonderful bicycle path along that section of the reservoir. The alternative if necessary is to stay on Rt. 28A.
